Executive Summary
If you have an executive summary, please provide it here. If you don’t, give an overview of your company and explain what you do for (provide to) your customers.
Innovation
What makes your company different than your competitors? What is your innovation or significance within your industry?
We call this the ‘so what?’ factor. What sets you apart? If I am a potential customer, what are the obvious factor(s) that makes my decision to hire you over someone else
Goals/Expectations
What are the specific goals and expectations for this website?
This could be from any or all perspectives (sales, marketing, vender or customer relations, etc.). Be as specific as possible. We want to understand your expectations so we can build a website that meets your needs.
Audience
Describe the primary audience for your website? For whom is this website purposed? There may be several. List them in order of importance.
Don’t confuse the volume of particular types of visitors with their level of importance. For instance: your venders may be the most important audience you serve with your website, but they may be much lower in volume (number of visitors) than local prospects looking for your product/service. Also, don’t give one word answers here – describe or define the audience.
Look/Feel
Describe the type of look are you trying to achieve?
(e.g. high-tech, conservative, clean, loud, warm, bright, flashy, etc. – you can use multiple terms) Give an example of two or more websites that you think best represents the look you desire from your website. For each of these examples, explain what you specifically like about it.
Graphics/Logo/Image Development Work
The assumption is that you want us to create a graphical website template(s). Other than the website templates, what other graphics work would you like us to do?
This can include a logo. Your logo will need to be in a print-ready format or a hi-resolution format for use on PCs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc – we use Adobe creative products). This work can also include print design (brochures, business cards, stationary, product cards, etc).
Site Map
Provide a site map.
For each page in the site map, describe the content (text and pictures) and any special functionality (technology) of each page/section. Note areas that will especially help this website become an asset to your company. Also make your suggested website navigation evident.
Copy Writing
Will all your content be provided to us in final edit format?
If not, explain to what extent you need Journey involved with this process? This may include legal statements, like privacy and usage policies and terms of agreement. Because reading behaviors are much different online, copy for websites needs to be treated much differently than copy for print or advertisements.
Maintenance
What website maintenance responsibilities will you assume after the new website is launched? Or will you be hiring someone from outside your company to do maintenance on the website. Or maybe you want a content managed website (CMS).
e-Marketing
Do you have an e-marketing plan (which may include an SEO execution plan/pay-per-click plan/keyword analysis, etc)?
If not, to what extent do you want Journey to help you create a plan? If yes, explain to what extent you need Journey’s help in executing this plan (during and/or after the initial development)? This could include more than search engines (email campaigns, paid inclusion research, external link volume, on-line trade magazines, ghost writing, etc.) FYI: we have commercial and creative writers that can help you author pieces.
eCommerce/Online Transactions
Briefly describe any eCommerce or online financial transactions that will be executed on this website. There’s no need for any in-depth explanation at this point. We will follow-up with another series of questions if you are doing any type of online financial transacting.
